Lacy vs. CalzagheEnough already, Apple! Can’t a guy get any sleep around here what with all the new content and such?

Well, not content to try their hand at the comedy game in iTunes, Showtime decides to get into the sporting game as well. We can’t let ESPN and ABC have all the fun and profits, now can we? Showtime is making available (or, will make available, it’s listed but unavailable at the moment—if you’re reading this Friday morning, it may be available now) their Showtime Championship Boxing programming in iTunes. This particular fight, the Super Middleweight Title Unification bout between Jeff Lacy and Joe Calzaghe, actually happened last Saturday, so I won’t spoil it for you. But hopefully, in the future, they’ll add fights in a more expedient fashion.

This really has been quite the red-letter week in iTunes television. Many barriers that I’ve felt have restricted some of the potential program offerings have been removed this week. We now have access to shows that run daily, actual sporting events and content available on DVD at the normal iTunes price. I look forward to what else is in store. But not now; now is for sleeping.
